Leadership

Leadership and community initiatives are central to the mission of the Sathya Sai School of Toronto-Canada. As part of the Sathya Sai Education in Human Values program, the concept of finding happiness in the love we feel through service to our communities and to life in general without expectation of reward is woven into most aspects of our school.

Students are encouraged from a young age to take part in and organise various charity-based activities. At higher grades the expectation of responsibility and initiative rises. Mature students are involved in the running of the school itself through duties such as organising weekly assemblies and acting as assistants for the running and development of the after school activities.

Our leadership initiatives do not stop at our students. Parents are also encouraged to take part in the school community and are given many opportunities to be part of the organisation of the school, in the same way as their children. This helps support the culture of love and service found at the Sathya Sai School.

The Sathya Sai School has several awards available for leadership demonstrated by our students. Our highest achievement is our M.O.D.E.L.3 award. This is an acronym developed by the staff of the Sathya Sai School that has a deep connection with the school’s vision and goals. A M.O.D.E.L.3 student is: Motivated, Organized, Disciplined, Exemplary, Loving: 1) Love for God 2) Love for Learning 3) Love for Humanity and Nature.

Starting in the 2002-2003 school year, students have been recognized for their outstanding practice of the five Human Values with this unique, character-based award.

This framework has a deep connection with our vision and informs how we structure our education pedagogy, including our unique SSEHV curriculum. Students are taught and inspired to live by these important values and ideals through their individual and group work, as well as through their contributions at school and in the wider community.

Leadership development is at the heart of our mission for our students to achieve academic and character excellence.

“I want you to be leaders to protect the world. Leaders like lions, self-reliant, courageous, majestic and just. Lion is the king of animals and I want you to be king among people.”
- Sri Sathya Sai Baba
